Malatya Turgut Özal University's Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture launched its Radio, Television, and Cinema Department in the 2023-2024 academic year. This dynamic academic discipline aims to cultivate creative, critical, and productive individuals in the media field amid the rapid advancement of contemporary communication technologies. The department aims to equip students with competence in various areas of the media industry by offering both theoretical and practical education. The department's primary goal is to train professionals who understand the social, cultural, and aesthetic dimensions of communication and can creatively utilize their technological skills. In this regard, students learn to produce various media products such as films, documentaries, news programs, and short films, while also gaining the ability to analyze the social impact of media texts. In addition, workshops, short film screenings, festival participation, media interviews, and technical tours organized throughout the semester contribute to students' professional development. The Radio, Television, and Cinema Department, whose academic staff consists of two Associate Professors and one Assistant Professor, offers the following curriculum:Radio and television broadcasting, film history, film theory, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, media ethics, communication theories, new media applications, and communication sociology are among the wide range of subjects covered. This diversity enables students to develop both their creative and critical thinking skills. Considering the impact of digital transformation on media today, it is crucial that graduates of the department are proficient in digital media literacy and multi-platform production. Therefore, the curriculum covers contemporary applications such as digital video, podcasts, virtual media content, and online publishing, in addition to traditional media production. Students thus graduate as versatile professionals capable of producing content in both traditional and new media fields. The department values national and international collaborations. In this regard, students can study in different countries under Erasmus exchange programs and participate in international film festivals and media projects. This provides them with the opportunity to gain a close understanding of global media culture.The Radio, Television, and Cinema Department is not only a field of vocational education; it is also an important platform in terms of cultural production, social awareness, and artistic expression.
